Paddy Pallin Foundation

The Paddy Pallin Foundation, ABN 56 248 049 794, is a Trust established on 23rd April 2007 by Paddy Pallin Pty Ltd.

The Trustee is Paddy Pallin Foundation Pty Ltd, a company established solely for that purpose whose directors are Rob Pallin, Donald White and Bruce Donald.

The Trust Purposes to protect and enhance the Australian environment are set out at The Trust Deed page of this website.

The Paddy Pallin Foundation was entered on the Commonwealth Register of Environmental Organisations on 19th September 2007 and donations over $2 to its registered public fund, the Paddy Pallin Natural Environment Fund were granted tax deductibility.

Bruce Donald

bruce-donald_sm2.jpgBruce Donald AM is a senior Sydney lawyer and consultant practising in the commercial, media and environment fields. A graduate of the ANU and Harvard Law Schools, he was a commercial partner at major Sydney law firms before spending 1984-6 as Director of Legal Services with the Central Land Council in Alice Springs, beginning a continuing commitment to indigenous legal and development issues. From 1986-94 he was general counsel to the ABC as well as holding senior ABC management positions. Since 1995 he has been in sole practice as a lawyer and has served as a Commissioner on the Australian Heritage Commission, pro bono Chair of the Environmental Defenders Office and a part time Judicial Member of the NSW Administrative Decisions Tribunal. His publications range from trade practices to media law.

Don White

don_sm2.jpgDon has had conservation interests all his life. He spent 30 years as an Engineer and Manager in manufacturing industry until 1998 when he ‘semi-retired" to run his own consulting business. Since then he has become increasingly involved in teaching at university and has been able to devote much more time and energy to conservation matters.

He is actively involved in the Nature Conservation Council of NSW, and is currently the Chairman. He has also been appointed as an Adjunct A/Professor at the University of Sydney. He is a Board member of the EPA (Environment Protection Agency - part of DECC, Department of Conservation and Climate Change) and other governmental committees.

Don, and his wife Rosie, live in Sydney with a property in Yengo National Park and both are volunteer members of the Rural Fire Service in the local brigade.

Tim Pallin

tim-pallin_sm2.jpgTim is interested in ensuring the Paddy Pallin Foundation contributes to better care of our special Australian environment

Tim Pallin, the grandson of Paddy Pallin, now works in the family company Paddy Pallin Pty Ltd as Managing Director. Tim is active in bushwalking, skiing, rock climbing, mountain biking and kayaking.

Tim has a great interest in making Paddy Pallin retail stores as sustainable as possible and working towards a better, greener world.

Nancy Pallin

nancy_sm2.jpgNancy Pallin is a Director of the Paddy Pallin group of companies.

Nancy’s father was very active in the National Parks Association of NSW, leading it as President for many years, and involved in lobbying for additions to the NSW reserve system.

Nancy is a founding member and currently Chairperson of the Ku-ring-gai Bat Conservation Society Inc. and a member of the Australasian Bat Society. As a volunteer, she has coordinated the habitat restoration project in Ku-ring-gai Flying-fox Reserve since 1987. She has been active in bush regeneration in Lindfield, Lane Cove National Park, on Lord Howe Island and Jamberoo Mountain. She was awarded the Centenary Medal for flying-fox conservation in 2003 and received an Australia Day Award for Outstanding Service to the Ku-ring-gai Community in 2005. Since 2004, Nancy chaired the Blue Gum High Forest Group which led the successful community campaign to protect the St Ives Blue Gum High Forest from more development.

Nancy and Robert have two children, Tim and Catherine.

Robert Pallin

rob-pallin_sm2.jpgRobert is the son of Paddy Pallin and is currently the Executive Chairman of the Paddy Pallin group. Robert is also involved in several conservation groups especially the Nature Conservation Council of NSW (NCC) and its Bushfire program. He represents the NCC on the Bush Fire Coordinating Committee, the Rural Fire Service Advisory Council and the Illawarra Bushfire Management Committee. He also represents NCC on the NSW Environmental Trust.

Robert is involved in bush regeneration on Jamberoo Mountain and Lord Howe Island.

Robert is also a member of the National Parks & Wildlife Service South Coast Advisory Committee and the Lord Howe Island Board.
